Here are the highlights on my birthday:
1. Jess pointing out my grey hairs that are starting to come in
2. Worked
3. Had a mini party at a bar that ended by 10:30 and I was in bed by 11
Heck, in college I didn’t start my parties till 11! Is it that I’ve become more “mature” or the fact that there’s just not as much party gas left in the tank? I’m starting to understand why people stop celebrating birthdays all together. Though here’s my new take on age:
It’s just a number.
Do you just give up on life and stay in and watch movies all night on the weekends because you are “too old”. You can’t lose that motivation to experience life at it’s fullest. Nowadays I must admit I love just laying around the house after a long work week, but you have to see the big picture. Our time on the earth is short in the grand scheme of things. You can’t dwell on the past thinking “I miss the college days of playing soccer every night and having fun with my buddies” because by the time you are done day dreaming about those days it’ll be “I miss when I was 26 and being able to go away on the weekends without the kids”. I tell myself to focus on all the good stuff in my life right now and when I think about it, it’s really a great deal. Yeah college was fun and enjoyable, but I was broke and studying all the time. It’s nice having your own money, going on vacations to fun places and living freely with my best friend and wife.
So whether you’re 25 going on 26 or 49 going on 50, age is just a number. You never know, this week could be your last. So before you complain about another week of work or sweating the small stuff, remember to check out your bucket list every now and get out there and enjoy life. Plan that vacation you been wanting, do something spontaneous on a weeknight, say yes to going out with friends when you are tired because if you can’t tell the difference between last week and the week before, you’re doing something wrong!

This is so true
